Hydroelectric Power Plant Cost Calculator Enterprise UX
ANDRITZ is one of the world's leading suppliers of electromechanical equipment and services for hydropower in the growing renewable energy market.

About the project
Andritz is one of the world's leading suppliers of electromechanical equipment and services for hydropower in the growing renewable energy market. This project involved designing a complex internal web application for calculating side costs across hydroelectric power plant projects.
What I Worked On
Redesigned a legacy desktop application into a modern, web-based experience. The focus was on improving usability, visual consistency, and navigation while simplifying complex workflows and reducing interface clutter.
Redesign the existing desktop application and enhance its usability in a new web-based version
Implementing UI enhancements to improve visual consistency and user engagement
Streamlining and reorganizing existing projects to reduce clutter, improve navigation, and optimize workflows
Identifying and documenting key user pain points to guide design priorities
Organizing and facilitating workshops with stakeholders and end users to align on goals and gather insights
Driving overall optimization of work processes to enhance team productivity and system efficiency
Challenge
The existing process for calculating project side costs was manual, error-prone, and time-consuming. Project managers needed a reliable, structured tool that could handle complex calculation types, Gantt-based manpower and resource planning, and multiple user roles — all within a single application.
Solution
Designed a comprehensive web application featuring:
Complex multi-type cost calculators
Gantt chart for manpower and resource planning
Admin mode for managing users and permissions
Iterative UX workshops with stakeholders in Austria and Croatia
Clean, enterprise-grade UI that made complex data easy to navigate
Impact
Improved usability by restructuring navigation and simplifying key workflows
Increased visual consistency through UI enhancements aligned with the design system
Reduced cognitive load by decluttering screens and reorganizing existing projects
Aligned stakeholders and users early through workshops, reducing design rework
Enabled more efficient work processes for both users and internal teams
What You’re Seeing
Polished, production-ready interfaces designed for daily enterprise use
